Overview
Ancient Egypt was one of the first civilizations to exist. Some of their accomplishments were creating the world's first Great Empire, becoming one of the first civilizations to have a written language this being shown below (left, far below)).
Also at
around the time of 2630 B.C. the King Djoser of Egypt asked a man named
Imhotep, an architect, priest, and healer, to design a monument for him to lay
at his death, this would become the first major stone building in known
history, this was and is known today, as the, Step-Pyramid (below, right)
Facts about Ancient Egypt
- Egypt is located in the Mediterranean
- Alexander the Great took down Egypt in 332 B.C.
- The Ancient Egyptians considered their Pharaoh (King) to be a descendent of the God Hours
- Most people lived ion villages and farmed for their village
Hieroglyphics
The ancient Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to develop a written language. Their language was called Hieroglyphics. They believed their writing to be "work of the god". Also Jean-Francois Champollion cracked the code of Hieroglyphics. When writing, you would write in rows and columns. As seen below.
Religion and Gods
The Ancient Egyptians beieved in many gods. Some of the major ones included Ra, Horus, Orus, Isis, and Seth. Below is a YouTube video about some of the major gods. Also below is a photo the gods and their names.
Architecture
Most people consider the pyramids to be some of the most beautiful man-made structures in the world. Now some quick facts.
